Listed below are a few key sources of further advice and information.

 

Academic Network of Disability Experts

ANED was established by the European Commission in 2008 to provide academic and scientific support and advice for its disability policy Unit. In particular, the activities of the Network will support the future development of the EU Disability Action Plan and practical implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Disabled People in Europe. The Network is managed by Human European Consultancy (NL) and the Centre for Disability Studies at the University of Leeds (UK).

 

Commission for Racial Equality

The Commission for Racial Equality is a publicly funded, non-governmental body set up under the Race Relations Act 1976 to tackle racial discrimination and promote racial equality.

 

Commission for Equality & Human Rights

The new Commission will be a Non-Departmental Public Body (NDPB) and independent influential champion whose purpose is to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people and protect human rights.

 

Disability Rights Commission

The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is an independent body established in April 2000 by Act of Parliament to stop discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people.

 

Equal Opportunities Commission

The Equal Opportunities Commission is the leading agency working to eliminate sex discrimination.

 

Equality Challenge Unit

Equality Challenge Unit supports the higher education sector in its mission to realise the potential of all staff and students whatever their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age, to the benefit of those individuals, higher education institutions and society.

 

Equality & Diversity Forum

The Equality and Diversity Forum is a network of national organisations committed to progress on age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, sexual orientation and broader equality and human rights issues.

 

Women & Equality Unit

The Ministers for Women, supported by the Women and Equality Unit (WEU), are responsible for promoting and realising the benefits of diversity in the economy and more widely.  They develop policies relating to gender equality and ensure that work on equality across Government as a whole is co-ordinated.
