The British Sociological Association
invites submissions to its 60th Anniversary Conference. The 2011

2009.
We are delighted to confirm the keynote speakers

Feminist Issues' and author of 'Close to Home: A Materialist
Analysis of Women's Oppression'.
- Paul Gilroy: path-breaking UK social theorist
of race, racism and culture/author of 'There Ain't No Black in the
Union Jack' and 'Darker Than Blue: On The Moral Economies of Black
Atlantic Culture'.

City'.
- Laurie Taylor: renowned UK sociologist and
criminologist, founding member of The National Deviancy Conference,
now public sociologist and presenter of BBC Radio 4's 'Thinking
Allowed' programme.
There is a conference theme:
60 Years of Sociology, which will be
addressed in both the main plenary sessions and the sub-plenary
sessions in each discipline. In this way we hope that more
established figures in a number of fields will be represented at
the conference. There will also be Open Streams, in
recognition that not everyone's field of interest is covered by the
main stream titles.
We believe this will be a
rewarding and exciting conference that will be of interest to all
our members.
