The BSA Annual Conference is always the year’s key networking event for Sociology academics and professionals. The University of Warwick’s Sociology Department is the largest in the UK and ranks as third only to Cambridge and Oxford Universities in the Guardian University Guide.
Addressing the theme of Social Worlds, Natural Worlds in 2008 are three high profile plenary speakers - Nikolas Rose (LSE), Garry Runciman (University of Cambridge) and Kate Soper (London Metropolitan University). The conference aims to offer a broad range of activites and there are a large number of stimulating new symposia, panels and social events planned.
The Conference programme will include presentations and special sessions which will invite debate about the relationships between the natural and the social and the ways in which the nature-culture distinction is being challenged by developments within both social theory and empirical research.
In 2007, the Annual Conference attracted over 630 delegates, a plethora of media attention and was hailed by all as a very successful event.
