MedSoc Books For Review

Medical Sociology Online (MSo) has regularly published lists of books available for review, to invite responses from interested readers. MSo is not an academic journal, but offering a review can be a good way for less experienced writers to build up confidence. It also provides more established contributors with a forum to try out less formal (and sometimes more humorous) styles of writing. For more information and current available titles click here.

Sociology of Health and Illness (SHI) has traditionally solicited reviews by invitation only, However, to encourage wider participation, it has been decided that a proportion of titles will now be made available to academics and postgraduate students who contact the reviews editor. The latter reserves the right to decline requests in the light of such factors as an over-concentration of reviewers in a particular institution, but will be sympathetic to requests from less experienced as well as experienced reviewers. Overseas contributors are particularly welcome, but must be able to write well in English. It is important for the Journal’s standing with publishers that books received are reviewed, so please only request a book if you are sure you can complete the task within the allowed time (normally 2 months).  For current available titles contact: Karen Forrest.
