"Work, Employment and Society is where scholars who refuse to fit 100% inside the traditional moulds feel most at home." Jill Rubery, Manchester School of Management, UK
"Work, Employment and Society has become, to my mind, the leading international journal for researchers in economic sociology. Its articles have set the agenda for many of the key research debates in recent years." Duncan Gallie, Nuffield College, Oxford, UK
"Work, Employment and Society is a major forum for the latest sociological research on work. I eagerly await each issue, and always find something of interest." Arne L. Kalleberg, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA |
Published quarterly by SAGE Publications, this leading journal deals with, and encourages the further exploration of, the complex interrelations of all divisions of labour.
It pays particular attention to contemporary developments and their effects on different forms of work. Recent issues have covered cross-national perspectives on work organisations, different routes to industrialisation, and employment in the home.
Members of the BSA receive either Sociology or WES as part of their membership benefits package. They can also opt to receive the other journal at a reduced rate. If you choose to receive Sociology, for example, you can opt to subscribe to Work Employment and Society at the reduced rate of £38.00 (in 2007) or vice-versa. This represents a saving of one third. BSA members are also entitled to subscribe to the co-owned BSA/SAGE journal, Cultural Sociology, for just £15 (usually £40 - see the Cultural Sociology page for more information).
