Re-evaluating Lesbian Feminisms
Aston University, Birmingham, UK

Research workshop in conjunction with the BSA Lesbian Studies Group.  Lesbian feminist politics influenced the lives of many lesbians during the 1970s and 1980s. It has been subject to a wide range of critiques and in many contexts has now been superseded by queer politics and LGBT alliances. The aim of the workshop is to reinvigorate debate around the place of lesbian feminism in the 21st century, offering the opportunity for engagement in a contemporary evaluation of lesbian feminism in relation to LGBT and queer perspectives and third wave feminism. The workshop will feed directly into a forthcoming special issue of Feminism & Psychology on ‘Re-evaluating Lesbian Feminisms’.
