The BSA Race Committee launched this study group at the BSA's 2002 Annual Conference. From July 2005, it was decided that both the Race & Ethnicity Study Group and the BSA Race Forum (formed in 2002 with members of the disbanded BSA Race Committee) should effectively share convenorship of both groups.
