The Postgraduate Forum is an informal network of BSA members currently conducting postgraduate research in sociology. There are more than 600 members. The Forum is organised by a team of convenors whose role is to make sure student members of the BSA are kept up to date with matters of specific interest to them. Further the convenors attempt to facilitate contact between student members and members of the BSA Council.

During the year the convenors undertake the following tasks:
-
circulate information of interest to other postgraduates via the Postgraduate Forum email distribution list;
-
keep the Postgraduate Forum pages of the BSA website up to date;
-
make contributions to Network, the BSA members newsletter;
-
assist with the processing of BSA Support Fund applications by joining the panel of members who grant awards from the Fund;
-
help organise the Postgraduate Workshops/Events at the BSA Annual Conference; and
-
represent the interests of Postgraduate members at Council meetings.
In undertaking this role, the convenors are always keen to hear from Forum members, whether they have an issue concerning the BSA they would like to raise, have an idea for an article in Network or are involved in organising an event that would be of interest to other members. The Postgraduate Forum convenors can be contacted via email.
Postgraduates are automatically enrolled onto the BSA's Postgraduate Forum, and will receive regular e-news items which we consider to be of interest to a student audience.
