Social Class across the Social Sciences
A BSA Postgraduate Regional Event
29 June 2020
Cardiff University, School of Social Sciences, UK
About the Event
This event will appeal to those conducting research on social class from across the social sciences, irrespective of theoretical perspective and/or methodological design. It aims to bring together those working on social class from different disciplinary traditions to discuss current research and emerging debates.
Agreed keynote speakers are Professor Mike Savage (London School of Economics) and Dr Louise Folkes (University of Gloucestershire).
Call for Papers
The presentation format will be a 10-20 minute presentation, followed by 5 minutes for any questions. Submissions from postgraduate research students are actively encouraged, in addition to early career researchers and other members of the academic community with research interests concerning social class.
All research which contributes to understandings of social class in society is welcomed.
Two important themes for this event are:
- Innovation: research which is innovative through theory and/or method and
- Intersectionality and interdisciplinarity: research forwarding intersectional and interdisciplinary understandings of social class, today.
Presentations are to be emailed to the event organiser Ross Goldstone with 'BSA Social Class Event' in the subject line.
