Environment and Health Special Interest Group
Concerns about the interactions between environment and human health are increasing, with health professionals and policy makers, governments, international bodies, and sectors of the general public recognising the challenges posed by climate change and other environmental pressures.
The BSA Environment and Health special interest group was established in 2015 after a series of successful symposia at Medical Sociology conferences.
The Group continues to grow. In 2016 it ran a highly successful conference on Society, Environment and Human Health at the London School of Hygiene, and in 2017 organised the 2nd BSA Conference on Environment and Health at the University of Cardiff.
We are currently editing a Special Issue of the journal Health on Society, Environment and Health. Expected publication date: Jan 2019.
For the first time, the 2018 BSA Medical Sociology conference had a dedicated strand on 'Enviroment and Health', with six papers. See you at future Medical Sociology conferences!
