The Power of Association

When times are uncertain it has long been said that by staying together we remain stronger! This year, the BSA is no exception and has had a fantastic response to membership renewals.  Not only did more members renew their memberships but we have welcomed more new members than ever before in between October 2016 and March 2017!

With more members than we have ever had at this point in the year, it shows how significant it is to belong to your national subject association and the sociological community.  Being part of a community that not only supports its members, local study groups and new sociologists, it reinforces the power of association.

In 2016 our study groups, postgraduate forum and early careers forum ran over 65 events covering a wide variety of topics and provided excellent networking opportunities.

This year's Annual Conference has proved very popular too, with the second highest attendance record of people attending the three-day conference in Manchester next week. If you want to keep up to date with what is happening at the conference, please follow the hashtag #britsoc17 on Twitter.

Don't forget that your membership provides you with access to over 60 study groups and special interest groups, discounted registration for our events, Network magazine, either Sociology or Work, Employment and Society journal and access to other great benefits via the Members' Area on the BSA website.

Thank you for your resounding support and we look forward to seeing you at our events throughout 2017. Please do remember, should you have any questions regarding the BSA or your membership you can email the Membership Team or contact us on 0191 383 0839.

Together we are stronger!
