Freedom and Hope in the Current Global Context

BSA Annual Conference 2027

31 March-2 April 2027

About the Event

Every generation of sociologists inherits a different set of questions. Some endure, while others emerge in response to the changing conditions of social life. The BSA Annual Conference 2027 is held under the title Freedom and Hope in the Current Global Context, reflecting questions that resonate across the discipline and speak directly to the present moment.

Whether our work explores identities, institutions, inequalities, technologies, cultures, movements, or everyday life, we are concerned with how people navigate the worlds they inhabit and the futures they imagine. The conference offers an opportunity to bring those conversations together, welcoming contributions from across sociology and from colleagues at every stage of their careers.

Over three days, the conference will provide a forum for sharing research, exchanging ideas, renewing collaborations, and discovering new connections. Above all, it is an opportunity to join the conversations that connect sociologists across generations and perspectives.

We look forward to welcoming you at the Conference.
